the things my son can get away with
So, how is it that when Corban passes gas it elicits a smiling, empathetic response from his mom. Or, when he belches after eating mom says, "good job!" Like I would ever get away with that kind of behavior!

We are encouraged to expel gaseous content from our bodies at our most mentally formative stages and then, as adults, we're supposed to un-map the synaptic pathways formed by the positive feedback and find such action unattractive, undesirable, uncouth and unsavory. Understandable? Unlikely.
ReplyDeleteI believe the said "un-mapping" is to take place around the time of life when potbellies and ankle rolls are no longer referred to as "cute" and cannot be sported proudly in a onesie.
ReplyDeleteThis parallel should help bring us back to reality; one where praise after expelling gases stops when that onesie doesn't quite fit. THAT'S believable.
